Bhubaneswar, Dec 27: The Ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) which stormed back to power for the fourth consecutive period in a row in 2014, Friday celebrated its 17th foundation day with much fanfare across the state.
Amid blowing of conch and traditional dance, separate rallies were led by three MLAs of Bhubaneswar to the meeting venue in the morning.
Party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who addressed the gathering criticised Centre for neglecting Orissa in terms of allocation of funds and recounted the party’s achievements in the last 15 years.
Bhubaneswar Central, North and Ekamra MLAs, city Mayor and deputy mayor, MP Prasanna Patsani, Baishnab Charan Parida and other MLAs along with BJD leaders attended the event at the party headquarters here.
Ministers, MLAs and MPs and party’s district heads also made elaborate arrangements in the 32 organisational districts and constituency levels by holding programmes throughout the day.
‘‘We have earned the trust of the people in the last 17 years as BJD worked for the betterment of the state. The party has created history and took the state to a new height,’’ the Chief Minister said addressing a gathering at state party headquarters.
Patnaik called upon the party leaders to work with dedication for the state as well as the party.
