New Delhi: The second phase of the Budget session commenced Monday amidst uproar in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha over Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s statements in London.
In the second phase, which is likely to continue till April 6, Odisha MPs are gearing up to highlight several state specific issues in both the houses.
The Biju Janata Dal MPs will reiterate the party’s long-standing demand for passing of Women’s Reservation Bill, which seeks to grant onethird of all seats for women in the Lok Sabha and the state legislative assemblies.
The party MPs would also likely raise the issue of inclusion of tribal communities in the state’s ST list and highlight the alleged negligence of the Union government towards the Railway sector of the state. On the other hand, the Congress and the BJP are set to raise the state’s law and order issue.
Unhappy with the progress made by the SIT in the Naba Das case, Congress MP Saptagiri Ulaka said he will demand a CBI probe or Supreme Court judge monitored probe in the case while also raising the law and order situation of state in the Parliament.
The Congress MP alleged that three bauxite blocks namely Ballada, Sijimali and Kutrumali in Koraput, Rayagada and Kalahandi districts were auctioned without consultation with local communities to Adani group and Vedanta group.
The Koraput MP said that he will protest this in the Parliament and will oppose the alleged privatisation of Nalco. Meanwhile, BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi accused the state government of politicising the work of administration saying he will raise the issue in the house.
The BJP will also raise the Naba Das case and the law and order issue of the state during the session.
