Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party Friday criticised the government for its January 5 decision to auction all mines (except coal) in the state and hailed the High Court stay on the move. “The Centre has decided to auction mineral resources on the very day the state decided to auction its mineral, although the state does not have the power. The High Court has rightly directed the Naveen Patnaik government in this regard,” BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma said.
The state knows its Cabinet decision would be challenged in the court, Sharma said, adding the court has pointed out where the government has gone wrong and the mining ordinance will benefit the states. The Central Cabinet decision is historic and the ordinance gives more power to the states, he pointed out.
