Sorada: A supporter of the BJP was allegedly beaten to death by a group of people at Kadalijhola village under Sorada police limits in Ganjam district Wednesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Santosh Pati (35).
The assailants reportedly attacked him with iron rods and sticks at around 8.30pm leading to his death. Exact reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.
Tension gripped the area following the incident. The cops, however, moved swiftly and the situation was brought under control.
Police have started investigation into the incident and efforts are on to nab the attackers, said additional director general of police (law and order) Sanjeeb Panda.
