Bhubaneswar: The BJP Mahila Morcha Sunday described the Biju Janata Dal (BJD)-led state government as ‘anti-women’ as it had failed to ensure their safety in the state.
Addressing the media here, BJP National Mahila Morcha President Vijaya Rahatkar said, “Odisha government is anti-women. Under the state government nothing concrete has been done for them. Nothing in terms of their security and health is visible. The number of cases relating to crimes against women in the state is an indication of the government’s failure to ensure their welfare.”
Boasting about her party’s inclusion policy, Rahaktar said that all efforts would be made to ensure that more women from the state are given tickets for the upcoming state and general elections.
Talking about including more women in electoral politics, Rahatkar said that every booth in the state is now likely to be covered by women leaders of the party.
“We have now decided to ensure that around five women are deployed for each booth to boost out party base in the state. We have now 8000 women shakti kendras in the state,” she said.
Amit Shah visit
BJP national President Amit Shah will inaugurate the national women executive meet of the party in Puri Monday formally after the initial sessions of party bearers and the social media in the state capital scheduled Sunday evening.
Rahatkar said, “We have after deep analysis decided to hold our national executive meeting in Odisha and we have decided to do it in Puri. More than 200 party bearers from the party including some important senior party leaders are likely to take part.”
The meeting is likely to adopt resolutions in three areas- political, policies relating to women and condolence meetings for former Prime Minister Atal Vajpayee, the state unit of the party said.
