Bhubaneswar: Bijay Kumar Sharma, Director General (DG) of Fire Services, Home Guards and Civil Defence, was appointed as Director General of Police (DGP) in-charge of Odisha Sunday.
BK Sharma, a 1986-batch IPS officer, has been assigned the charge of DGP, in addition to his present duty. The incumbent DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma has gone on leave following his wife’s untimely death Sunday morning.
The Election Commission of India has approved the appointment as the Model Code of Conduct is in force ahead of the elections.
