Bhubaneswar: The Block-grant teachers, who have been agitating under the banner of Odisha School and College Teachers’ and Employees’ United Forum, have decided to take classes from Monday.
The agitation will continue at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg here but the teachers who plan to take classes will wear black badges till their demands are met.
“The students’ suffered for 38 days, but the government is yet to wake up to the situation. We don’t want to put the future of students in trouble. We will take classes from September 24, but will wear black badges, even during the University examinations. From September 24, on a rotation basis, teachers from two districts will continue the strike in Bhubaneswar,” Nayak said.
The forum will also stage a 12-hour strike October 2 in front of district Collectorates. All teachers will later join the ‘Siksha Bachao, Odisha Bachao’ samavesh at Mahatma Gandhi Marg October 9. The forum has threatened not to cooperate in election-related works if their demands are not met.
The teachers started their strike from August 16, seeking benefits of the 7th Pay Commission, job regularisation under the new Grant-in-Aid (GIA) system, etc.
