Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will start a dedicated portal for denizens soon with the aim to assess the civic body’s requirement for 100 per cent digitisation.
Significantly, this portal is a pilot project to assess the response and requirements of the civic body for complete digitisation. It will be monitored by a dedicated team of the officials and the denizen can submit their suggestions and grievances to the civic body through this online space. According sources, anonymous complaints can also be submitted in the portal.
In fact, the team monitoring the activities of the portal will transfer the suggestions and grievances to the concerned officials. Top officials will also monitor the functioning of the portal.
“We would be monitoring the Web traffic and developments of the portal. After one month, we will have an assessment meeting to assess the performance of the portal,” said a top official.
Meanwhile, the top BMC officials informed the Orissa POST that the civic body will initiate necessary steps to ensure the complete digitisation of the organisation.
“This is a pilot project and it will give us fair idea about our requirements for compete digitisation. This apart, we can also assess the response of the denizens towards the initiative. After receiving the initial report we will expand the online base with additional servers and other required facilities,” said officials.
With the completion of this project the corporation will be completely paperless and functional 24/7 in the near future.
“We are expecting the complete digitisation in the next one year. So the civic body of the future smart city will have minimum paper use. The digitisation will also ensure the better performance and denizens can also meet their requirements without coming to our offices,” said a top official of BDA.
Significantly, complete digitistion is expected to reduce the visitors rush at corporation office at least by 40 per cent in the initial year. In fact, BMC will have dedicated officials to help those who are not comfortable with online facility.
“We will also have officials for helping those who are not comfortable with the online facility. The dedicated desk will help them in filing the application and grievances,” said an official.
