BMC urges people to take part in Survekshan

Bhubaneswar: With the four-member Central Survekshan team completing its document verification portion at Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Wednesday, the attention has been shifted to direct observation and public feedback.
Document verification job carries 1400 marks out of total 4000. The officials at BMC provided all required documents and information regarding manpower, door-to-door garbage collection, agencies engaged in sanitation, number of toilets and the steps taken to bring awareness among people about Swachhata etc. The team members are said to have submitted their assessment online.
With document verification portion being over, the team’s association with BMC is also over. “Now we are clueless about their second part that is direct observation wherein they can interact with people and go on checking the ground reality. We cannot say if they extend their three-day stay at Bhubaneswar,” said a BMC official. Direct observation carries 1200 marks with negative marking.
The rest of 1400 marks are kept for citizen feedback. People’s feedback is another key point that can make a great difference in giving good position to a civic body. “We urge people to take part in the Survekshan.
Their participation helps BMC in getting a better position. To make people aware about how they can take part in the competition, we have put banners all across the city, given advertisements to English and Oriya dailies, news channels, given jingles to FM channels to telecast and slides to film halls,” he added.
Last year the poor people participation was said to have taken its toll on BMC’s performance.
