Bhubaneswar, July 11: A domestic dispute at Sundarpada village took an ugly turn Saturday with the woman’s family allegedly hurling a petrol bomb at the house of the husband’s family.
Two persons had already been arrested in one of the many cases and counter cases that have been filed by the two families.
A petrol bomb that was hurled Saturday at the house of one Mustaq Khan (30) at Azad Nagar in Sundarpada village under Airfield police limits left the door broken. However, there was no casualty.
The bomb was reportedly hurled in revenge for a case filed by Khan against his wife’s father SK Kareem Tulla (55) who is still behind the bars. Khan’s mother Zameela Begum (58), who was arrested on the same day as Tulla, is out on bail.
Khan, an employee of Archeological Survey of India (ASI) stationed at Khandagiri, has a disagreement with his wife Haseena Parveen. Both the sides have filed cases against each other, following which Khan’s mother was arrested in a domestic violence case lodged by Praveen, while Tulla was arrested for beating up Khan.
“The two families have been fighting against each other for almost three years. Several cases have been filed from both sides. The bomb-throwing was a culmination of years of animosity. We are on the lookout for Parveen’s brothers who are suspected to have thrown the bomb at Mustaq’s house. All of them are absconding,” said ACP Anil Patra, who reached the spot and inquired about the issue.
