Ghasipura: A group of migrant labourers have been rescued in Anandapur block of Keonjhar district and they were handed over their families Tuesday. The rescue followed complaints from their families.
The rescued were Ram Munda (18), son of Biswanath Munda of Santoshpur village; Tikun Maharana (17), son of Ratana Maharana; Ranjit Maharana (15), son of Bhanu Maharana; Chakara Munda (20), son of Kande Munda; Tikina Munda (20), Sanjay Munda (17) and Gaurang Munda (16), sons of Raja Munda; Chumi Munda (18), son of Maru Munda; and Gangadhara Munda(19), son of Chakradhar Munda.
Seeking help in getting back their sons, the families of the rescued labourers had visited Anandapur police station April 4. After investigation, police came to know that a person from Bankhidi area under Anandapur police limits had engaged them for work in a private company in Chennai. He was instructed to bring back the labourers.
Cops at the Anandapur police station handed over the rescued labourers to their families Tuesday.
