Ahmedabad: The Indian Air Force (IAF) received a further boost with three more Rafale jets arriving Wednesday at the Jamnagar airbase in Gujarat from France. This was disclosed by IAF officials here. India had received the first batch five Rafale jets July 29. So out of the 36 that are to be delivered to India, eight of the fighter aircraft have already arrived. The three new arrivals will be inducted into the IAF in a function within the next couple of days.

The first five arrivals has already been inducted into the Indian Air Force’s ‘Golden Arrow’ squadron. They are the first imported fighter jets to be inducted into the IAF in 23 years after the Russian Sukhoi-30 fighters. The first Su-30 entered IAF service in 1997.
The five jets touched down at the airbase amid heightened security; the district administration also issued a complete dawn-to-dusk ban on photography of any sorts under Sec-144 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
