Aska: In a horrific incident, a youth was killed by his father and younger brother who subsequently chopped his limbs and decapitated his head before dumping the body parts in a septic tank Friday.
The matter came to the fore after foul smell emanated from the septic tank leading people to alert police. In the presence of police, fire brigade personnel recovered the body parts and launched a probe into the murder.
The heinous incident was reported from Jaipur village under this police limits in Ganjam district. Even as the exact reason of the gruesome murder was not known, preliminary investigation revealed the murder was the fallout from a property dispute.
The deceased was identified as Babula Patra (35). A case of murder was registered based on a complaint by Patra’s wife Bhagyalata. The body was sent for post-mortem to Berhampur-based MKCG Medical College and Hospital (MKCG).
In her complaint, Bhagyalata accused her father-in-law and brother-in-law of killing her husband in a pre-planned manner over a property dispute.
According to police, Patra’s father who worked in Surat as a bonded labourer had returned home a few days back. Similarly, his younger brother had returned four to five days back after serving a life sentence on charge of killing his wife.
The two brothers resided along with their father as Patra’s wife Bhagyalata had gone to her parents’ home over a family feud. Even as the incident happened a few days back, the matter came to the fore after foul smell emanated from the septic tank. PNN
