Dhenkanal: In a bizarre incident, a man allegedly chopped off the genitals of his brother-in-law before hacking him to death with a billhook over suspected incest relationship at Bidyabandh village under Sadar police limits in Dhenkanal district, Sunday.
Suspected incest relationship between the deceased and his sister is said to be the reason behind the murder.
The deceased has been identified as Nagesh Rout while his sister’s husband, Rudra Narayan Nayak is the main accused in the case. On being informed, police reached the spot and seized the body for post-mortem. Police have started a hunt for Rudra who at the moment is absconding.
According to sources, Rudra was staying at his in-law’s place. He and his wife’s brother Nagesh often quarreled over various issues. He lost his cool Sunday and reportedly murdered Nagesh with a sharp weapon.
Rudra’s wife and mother-in-law also sustained injuries while trying to save Nagesh,” said IIC Malay Nayak. The injured have been admitted at Dhenkanal district hospital.
While many said, it was a case of family dispute, rumours did rounds in the village that Rudra suspected Nagesh of having an incest affair with his sister. However, nothing has been confirmed as of yet, police said adding that a probe was on in this regard.
The exact cause would be known only after the arrest of the accused and interrogation of other family members, the cops added.
A scientific team reached the spot for further investigation. Police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
