Puri: The Excise sleuths Saturday seized brown sugar worth Rs 8 lakh and arrested a person at Penthakata Budanagar Chhak in the holy city of Puri.
He has been identified as Ramachandra Nayak.
Acting on a tip-off, the excise officials conducted simultaneous raids in the area and seized eight gms of brown sugar. The market value of the seized contraband would be around Rs 8 lakh, said an excise official.
Nayak was under the excise department scanner following several complaints of drug peddling and they were waiting for the right time to nab him red-handedly, the official added.
