Angul: In a shocking incident, a man with serious burn injuries was left unattended at the district headquarters hospital after being dumped on its verandah by 108-ambulance officials Friday due to the absence of a burn unit at the hospital.
The man in his forties was finally shifted to Nalco hospital after some social activists noticed him writhing in pain and informed ADM Srinivas Behera.
Behera immediately talked to Nalco hospital authorities and made arrangements for his treatment. The incident has triggered tension in the area as a woman had recently died due to absence of a burn unit in the hospital.
The man was shifted to the Nalco hospital with the help of the social activists.
Sources said the man, who is yet to be identified, sustained over 80 per cent burn injuries after accidentally coming in contact with an electrical installation at Budhapanka railway station.
