Balasore: Unidentified miscreants reportedly assaulted and looted a bus driver late Thursday night on NH-60 near Jaleswar in Balasore.
The driver of a private bus has been identified as Karunakar Das. According to Das, a few passengers had booked the bus named ‘Nilamadhab’ from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata. Midway, a car overtook his bus and signaled him to stop immediately.
After Das stopped the bus, three occupants got down from the car and started shouting at him. They manhandled and abused him in filthy languages before fleeing the spot. However, the trio gathered another 15 to 20 persons and intercepted the bus again near Jaleswar.
They all assaulted the driver Das and snatched away his belongings. The miscreants also damaged the private bus. On being informed, Jaleswar police reached the spot and started a probe.
