Nabarangpur: A butterfly with the pattern of Lord Jagannath’s face on it was spotted at the house of one Bhimsen Bisoi at Dengapadar village of Jhariguma panchayat under Tentulikhunti block in Nabarangpur district Sunday.
As the news of the presence of a butterfly with Lord Jagannath’s face on it spread, hundreds of villagers thronged at Bisoi’s house to catch a glimpse.
People were so moved that they started offering prayers to the insect. They put vermillion on it, offered flowers and blew conchs.
According to Bisoi’s family, they first spotted the butterfly in their garden. It is around two inches in width and six inches in length.
Some locals said that they had never seen such a butterfly in their lifetime.
Last year in September, a butterfly with its wings taking the shape of a snake was spotted perching on the wall of Soudamini Behera, a resident of Bhawaninagar in Koraput town. There too the butterfly drew hundreds of people to Behera’s house.
