Nabarangpur, May 23: After battling for life for last few months, a Class VIII student of Kasturba Gandhi Girls’ School at Koilari in Dabugaon block of Nabarangpur district breathed her last at her home Saturday.
The deceased Parvati Tanti, shifted to Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre by the district administration a few weeks ago, had first complained of pain in her abdomen. She was admitted in the Christian hospital at Nabarangpur. The doctors concluded that she had developed tumour in her abdomen and removed it. The hospital sent her biopsy to an institute at Ludhiana for further examination. The biopsy report confirmed she had cancer.
The girl was also discharged from the hospital. But she complained of her abdominal pain fter a few days following which the family sought help of district administration for further treatment. The administration provided financial assistance and sent her to Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre at Cuttack.
She was allegedly not provided proper treatment and her family brought her back to home where her condition became critical.
Her abdomen swelled up, making her groan in pain. After the collector Rasmita Panda came to know about the matter, she directed to admit her in a hospital here but the doctors had referred her to AHRCC at Cuttack.
