Bhubaneswar, April 16: Carmila Barla of Sundargarh bagged a silver medal in the girls’ javelin on the first day of the ongoing XIIth National Youth Athletic Championships in Goa, Thursday. She threw the spear to a distance of 35.53 metres to secure the second position. Runjhun Pegu (39.57m) of Assam won gold.
Among other participants, Samsada Ara Begum of Orissa finished sixth in the girls’ 3000m. An eight-member Orissa team consisting of six girls and two boys are participating in this three-day meet.
