Rourkela: CBI sleuths Tuesday conducted raids on the Panposh Road car showroom of Dua Brothers, a well known trading chain of this city for their alleged involvement in irregularities committed in finalisation of tenders of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP).
The offices of Reliable Hitech Infrastructure Pvt Ltd and Maa Baishnavi Sponge Ltd – two other firms owned by Dua Brothers located in front of the showroom along with their houses were also raided during the day.
CBI had caught BP Burma, an executive director of RSP on bribery charges January 8. His links with Dua Brothers unearthed during an interrogation and the sleuths raided the establishments of the firm.
According to well-placed sources, Dua Brothers is considered the ‘Super CEO’ of RSP as it finalises all major deals of the plant. The firm played an important role in Rs 17,000 crore modernisation of the plant. The partners of this firm manage the illegal funds of top RSP officials and earns crores of rupees from it, sources revealed.
Another source revealed the firm which started from a cycle store near the railway station went to become a multi-million rupee business chain by supplying industrial spares to RSP.
Surendra, Rajendra and Arun are three stakeholders of Dua Brothers. Rajendra manages two showrooms including the cycle showroom and Rajendra is in charge of Nexa Showroom while younger brother Arun supplies spares to RSP, it was learnt. PNN
