Bhubaneswar, June 9: Students and parents’ association Friday met State Commission for Protection of Child Rights chairperson Kasturi Mohapatra seeking her intervention against injustice meted out to the agitating students by CBSE regional director Sumita Singh.
Parents’ Association convenor Sudarshan Das said Mohapatra had heard their grievances and assured them appropriate support.
When contacted, the commission chairperson told Orissa POST that most of the children are below 18 years of age and it is our moral duty to ensure no injustice or nothing untoward is done against them. I had asked the association to submit a formal complaint at the office after which appropriate action will be taken.
Das said the students had suffered physical and emotional injury due to the highhandedness of CBSE officials, especially CBSE RO Sumita Singh.
He said they would move High Court Monday seeking revaluation of 13, 500 papers after consulting with lawyers.
Meanwhile, the High Court had ordered publication of papers (by June 10) of 18 students who moved the court seeking revaluation. But the parents’ association is not very optimistic about the outcome. The CBSE regional office has been apathetic to their concerns so far, Das added.
According to parents, the CBSE had sought a list of 10 questions from each papers in which the examinees want revaluation much to the annoyance of students who said the CBSE has been trying to dilute the high court order.
The parents had met higher education minister Anant Das Wednesday demanding extension of admission dates for Plus III admissions in the state in view of the CBSE goof-ups.
Admission in-charge Mihir Das who is state nodal officer for e-admissions, however, said the deadline for admission to Plus III is June 20 and there is ample time to apply for admission. PNN
