Cuttack, Nov 26: Chand Club and Radha Raman Club registered contrasting wins in their respective matches of the FAO Football League at the Barabati Stadium here Thursday.
In the first match, Chand Club scraped past Independent Club 2-1. Sk. Juber opened the account for Independent as early as the fifth minute.
Down by a goal, Chand Club came back strongly to win the match. Foreign recruit Owolesho Abey restored parity in the 15th minute while another foreigner, Amos Nathaniel doubled the lead in the 21st minute virtually to seal the fate of the match in favour of Chand Club in the first half itself.
The second half was a goalless affair as the ball was mostly confined to the midfield. Understandably Chand Club adopted a defensive strategy and thwarted the few opportunities that came in the way for Independent club to earn three full points.
In the other match played on the day, Radha Raman trounced Jay Durga Club 3-0. The goal scorers for Radha Raman were Janmo Xess (28th), Anand Lakra (37th) and Lalmohan Hansda (55th).
Friday’s match: Radha Gobinda Club vs Young Utkal Club.
