Kendrapara, April 19: In a startling revelation, Choudhury Abinash Das alias Muna, accused of child sacrifice in Gokhapada village under Marshaghai police limits in Kendrapara district, admitted to have offered a palmful of blood of the child in Luna river for sorcery practice.
Muna and his accomplice Bairagi Das had admitted to have killed eight-year old boy Raj Kishore Nayak alias Raja of the same village during interrogation, Marshaghai police IIC Sukant Patra said.
The gruesome killing of the child April 13 came to fore the next day on Mahavishuva Sankranti. They did so to attain the success in the occult practice which Muna assisted by Bairagi was practicing over a long period.
They caught the minor while he was roaming on the Luna river bank and hurling pebbles into water. Muna gagged the boy and recited mantras when Bairagi slit his neck with a knife. As blood flowed profusely Muna continued to recite mantras and offered palmful of blood to the river.
Muna admitted to have learnt the tantric practice from Ashok Baba of Assam during his stint in military service and was advised by Baba to offer human sacrifice for attainment in occult practice, police said.
The incident has shocked everybody’s conscience and the lawyers in Kendrapara court have refused to plead for the duo following which they were remanded in jail custody.
Muna was an ex-military man and was dismissed from his service after his first wife filed a case against him. His predecessors were rich. He also had about 25 acres of land but that soon got reduced after he married Smitarani of Nemalo village in Cuttack for the second time.
Smitarani dismissed the allegations and refused to believe that Raja was sacrificed by her husband.
A small headless human idol of clay, small toys of little girls, puja materials and two long ropes were seized from the house during raid.
Muna used to visit the village regularly and solve problems of locals with his tantric practices. Raja’s father Pratap Nayak was his first disciple but left him after his mother became mad and sister committed suicide. Later Bairagi joined his ashram and became his disciple.
