Bhubaneswar, March 1: The state government has issued a show-cause notice to the chairman of the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Basudev Chattoi, for not providing contingency allowance and remuneration to the principals in-charge of examination management hubs (EMH).
CHSE has yet neither paid the contingency allowance nor the remuneration to the principals in charge of the hubs, according to a complaint lodged by the principal of the PN Autonomous College, Khurda, at a recently held video conference of collectors and superintendent of police of all the 30 districts. The conference, chaired by Chief Secretary GC Pati, was held to discuss ways to ensure the smooth conduct of the Plus II examinations.
The complaint pointed out that the state government had issued orders to the CHSE for clearance of the arrears by the end of January 2015.
However, nothing has been done by the chairman yet in this regard, it alleged.
The complaint said that chairman has also been asked to ensure that advances are provided to the centre superintendents and hub supervisors for the management of the examination centres and hubs and alleged that this has also not been done by CHSE.
The state government considered the lapses by the CHSE chairman an embarrassment to the department and asked Chattoi to explain before March 3 why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.
The chairman has further been asked to clear all arrears and advances as required by the centre superintendents and hub supervisors soon and warned that not abiding by this directive would again invite strict
departmental proceedings against him.
