Bhubaneswar, Nov 17: The academic council of the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) Tuesday decided to implement a dynamic syllabus in line with that of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for Plus II students from the next academic year.
CHSE had in August submitted a report in this regard to the higher education department. This was followed by an orientation programme of CHSE officials in New Delhi recently.
CHSE chairman Basudev Chhatoi said only the syllabus will change for all junior colleges from the next academic year while the examination pattern will remain the same. The whole syllabus will be in line with all 31 subjects of arts, science and commerce streams, Chhatoi said.
“Our syllabus committee had submitted the draft for changes in syllabus which was finally approved by the council Tuesday,” said the chairman.
“The idea here is to equip students for competitive examinations that mostly follow the CBSE pattern. Moreover, to keep students hyperactive in both curricular and co-curricular activities, this change has become a necessity,” said Chattoi.
The state government opted for this change after considering the report of a fact-finding committee formed to suggest changes in Plus II syllabus, examination and evaluation process. Online evaluation had already been initiated in the Plus II science stream in the previous academic year as suggested by a high-level committee.
