Puri, Jan 3: The Puri-Bhubaneswar city bus service was suspended Saturday after miscreants attacked a few city bus service employees at the bus stand here.
Sources said four miscreants attacked city bus service Puri in-charge Govind Chandra Mishra, driver Satyapriya Mohanty, conductor Sushant Sethi and ticket inspector Jivan Chhotray when they were helping passengers to board a city bus.
“The miscreants asked us not to pick passengers from the bus stand. They attacked us when we raised objection,” said the bus service employees.
Traffic inspector Biswa Ranjan Senapati and a few officials of Kumbharpada police reached the spot and began a probe into the incident.
“A few employees of private bus services allegedly attacked the city bus officials over a dispute related to picking up passengers at the main bus stand of the city. We have discussed the issue with the private bus owners’ association,” said a senior police official.
