Bhubaneswar, May 20: A subjected oriented workshop is being organized by a city-based theatre group in association with Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre at Natygram theatre village, Khurda town.
The 14-day workshop deals with topics, like voice preparation and poem recitation, visual design of the theatre production, and choreography and role of choreographers.
Speaking about the workshop Subodh Patniai, said, “This workshop is very different as it is meant to help theater person understand the technical part associated in making our work look good on stage. The workshop will benefit not everyone.”
Around 30 theatre enthusiasts from Orissa, Assam, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal are participating in the workshop. Pranjal Saikai from Assam is giving training on voice preparation and poem recitation, while Jadumani Singh from Manipur is imparting training on visual design. Guru Sashdhar Acarya will train participants on choreography. Lamenting on the lack of proper technical knowledge among technicians from the state, Subodh said, “The technicians involved with theater in other parts of the state are very sound. We lack in technical expertise. It is very important that for the development of theater in the state we should give equal importance to each and every aspects of theatre. ”
