Nuagaon: An eight-year-old girl of Korada village under Nuagaon block in Nayagarh district met a watery grave while taking bath in a river Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Urmila, daughter of Jambeswar Pradhan.
Sources said Urmila, a Class-IV student had gone to the river with her three friends to take bath at around 9 AM Monday.
Suddenly, her feet slipped and she fell into the water. Seeing this, her friends raised an alarm for help, but in vain. Locals rushed to the spot and rescued the girl.
She was then taken to Mahipur community health center (CHC) where the doctors declared her brought dead. The body has been seized and sent for autopsy.
