Baripada: A Class X girl student was found hanging in a forest near Banasahi village under Jashipur police limits in Mayurbhanj district Thursday morning.
The deceased was Pushpalata Naik (17), eldest daughter of Ajambar Naik a resident of Banasahi village of Godapalasa village.
The girl was missing since Wednesday. The family searched for her but it did not help. Locals spotted the body in the morning and informed the police.
“Although some villagers suspect the girl ended her life by hanging from a tree, we could not establish the reason for the suicide. She did not leave any note behind,” police said.
