Bargaon: A Class X girl was allegedly dragged out of her house by a local, who gagged her and then taken to a forest area where she was raped, Sunday evening. The family members of the girl were not present at the house when this happened, as per a complaint to the police.
The incident occurred at Mundagaon village near here in Sundargarh district. As the news spread, it caused tension in the area. Police said they arrested the accused, Gregari Lamaga (37).
As per the complainant, the accused barged into the girl’s house while she was alone. Her mother had gone to the nearby pond to take bath. It was already dusk, and the man gagged the girl and took her to a forest nearby the village. After rape, he allowed her to return home after demanding that she kept the matter a secret.
When the mother returned home, the girl was not to be found. A while later, she was seen coming from the forest with tears in her eyes.
The girl narrated the incident to her mother. After this, the family approached the police. “Gregari was aware that my daughter was alone at home. He had seen me going to the pond,” the girl’s mother said.
