Clip of newly-wed couple exchanging snake garlands goes viral again

While the rescue of numerous cobra snakes from houses in different parts of the state created quite a buzz on social media in recent past, another bizarre incident from 2010 resurfaced on the Internet again – in which a bride and groom can be seen exchanging snake garlands during their wedding ceremony.

The video is shared in youtube and garnered a lot of views. A couple — Siddharth Sonavane, (25) and his fiancee Shrusti Ausarmal (23), around eight years back — exchanged snake garlands during their wedding ceremony on November 12, 2010, in a remote village of Beed district in Maharashtra.

Skipping the customary flower garlands, the couple chose deadly snake garlands and wrapped it around each other’s necks without flinching for a moment.

Reportedly, the two are local wildlife department employees, who reside in a remote district of the state. Buzz is also that the snakes were let loose briefly after the ceremony got over.
