Cuttack, April 8: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Wednesday announced the sanctioning of Rs 30 crore for building a second campus of Ravenshaw University here.
Efforts are being made to fill up 267 vacant posts in the university, Patnaik said at the annual function of the varsity, where he was the chief guest. “The varsity will soon be wi-fi-enabled. This will immensely help students,” he said.
“The state government is committed to the overall development of the university. Ravenshaw has a special place in Orissa and its demands are accorded top priority,” he said.
School and mass education minister Debi Prasad Mishra, who accompanied the Chief Minister, said Ravenshaw students have made the state proud in various sectors. He stressed the need to promote research. He said the state government will soon initiate steps to recruit more teaching personnel at the varsity.
Ravenshaw students’ union secretary Pramod Pati detailed the activities of the university in the past one year and also the plans for the overall development of the varsity. He stressed the need for a second campus.
Earlier, vice-chancellor Prakash Chandra Sarangi welcomed the gathering at the function that was also attended by Cuttack MP Bhatruhari Mahtab.
