These applications have become crucial instruments of the growing society facilitating direct interaction with the people, he said and urged the party leaders to open social media accounts with the help of technical teams provided by the party at the workshop.
“After opening the account, do not put it aside. Use it for sharing thoughts and ideas with your followers and supporters,” he advised.Social media is a key tool to reach the youth, Patnaik said. “I will closely monitor how you are using the social media for yourself and also for the party. Besides, I will monitor your posts and messages in the social media.”
The chief minister requested the party leaders not to leave the workshop without opening a social media account. Speaking on construction workers, he said of 25 lakh construction workers, 13 lakh have been registered under Orissa Building and other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board so far.
He asked the BJD leaders to extend support for registration of remaining 12 lakh workers within six months so that they can avail of the benefits of government.
“I am glad that we had this party workshop today to acclimatise the MLAs and MPs about social media network which will improve a lot of matters in their respective constituencies,” the chief minister told media persons after the workshop.
IT minister Pranab Prakash Das, who was present in the meeting, said social media is the only medium through which the party leaders can reach out to the people, know their grievances and note down their suggestions.
“This will help them to take up these issues with the chief minister, the chief minister’s office and the concerned ministers and officers and discuss with them the best possible governance through the social media,” Das added.
