Bhubaneswar, Feb 19: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone of Runaya Refining at Jharsuguda, Tuesday. The project is an end-to-end green solution for the recovery of aluminium and processing residual waste from aluminium smelters. The ceremony was performed in the presence of CEO of Runaya Refining Annanya Agarwal, Collector Bibhuti Bhushan Das, CEO of Vedanta Ltd-Jharsuguda Abhijit Pati and other officials.
On the occasion, Annanya Agarwal said: “Runaya’s vision is to enable growth in the aluminium industry in a sustainable manner. We provide innovative sustainable solutions for the aluminium industry. It is an important strategic initiative as specialty innovative-solutions, which provide value-added products for regional and global markets.”
Annanya Agarwal also appreciated the state government for its support. “We are thankful to the Chief Minister and the people of Odisha, for their support. We have worked passionately to bring a ‘Green’ eco-friendly technology to India and we hope that this pioneering step would set a trend for developing similar sustainable projects in the country.”
Runaya Refining is a sustainability solutions company with operations based on its licensed proprietary patented technology.
The authorities claim that Runaya uses a technology which is in line with its vision for Green Projects and is based on zero waste and zero discharge.
“This technology is being introduced for the first time in South East Asia. It has the capacity to process 30000 tonnes per annum of aluminium dross into value-added products. The project will address one of the biggest challenges facing the aluminium industry today, which relates to the handling, evacuation and disposal of dross in an environmentally friendly manner,” officials claimed.
It was also said that the aluminium dross processing facility is giving rise to a multi-level aluminium industry ecosystem which would further bolster the potential of aluminium ancillary industry in Western Odisha and other parts of the country.
