Malkangiri: The DRDA team held a review meeting led by district collector Manish Agarwal at DRDA conference hall to discuss the roadmap for developmental works at ‘Swabhiman Anchal’ which were undertaken by various departments including health, education, PDS distribution, transport, PHED, agriculture and horticulture.
The collector instructed officials of every department to expedite the works of their respective departments. He expressed unhappiness over the functioning of Coordinated Child Development Programme (CCDP) in the area. He told the officials concerned that strict action will be taken against them if they were found lax in discharging their duties. He also asked them to provide standardised healthcare service to the locals of ‘Swabhiman Anchal’.
The DEO was instructed to take proper action on teachers who are not taking their duty seriously.
Gurupriya bridge is a matter of prestige and pride for the state as it is the seed of transformation, the collector said. “From the bridge, connectivity will be established to the interior places and infrastructure for electricity will be laid.” “Our main focus is delivery of veterinary, fisheries, education and several others services and we hope to make the service delivery system more flexible by changing it at several places,” added the collector.
The Forest Department was advised to establish an eco-tourism point at Gurupriya bridge which will help enhance the socio-economic condition of locals in the area.
Notably, the tribal inhabitants of Swabhiman Anchal — previously known as ‘Bichhinnanchala’ or cut-off area — in Chitrakonda block of Malkangiri district have resorted to agitations under the banner ‘Bichhinnanchal Bikash Parishad’ for the development of the area.
More than 1,500 tribal men and women belonging to Panasput, Jodamba, Andriapali, Jantri and Gajalmamudi panchayats gathered at Chitrakonda spillway launch ghat Sunday, sailing a distance of near 100 kilometres by motorised boats, to put up their demand for healthcare, roads, drinking water and Anganwadi centre, before the district collector.
