Bhubaneswar: Raids were conducted by a special squad of Commissionerate Police on several nightclubs and bars located in Bhubaneswar over allegations of openly violating norms.
As a part of ‘Safe City’ drive, nightclubs and bars in Chandrasekharpur, Infocity and Patia areas were raided Saturday night by three battalions of police and a special squad. The bars and nightclubs were allegedly open beyond prescribed time limits apart from violating sound restrictions.
The bars and nightclubs in various parts of the city continue to operate after the designated closing times despite repeated warnings issued by police, a police official said.
The nightclubs and bars were also found openly defying terms and conditions of Excise Department, the official added.
Many young people were seen dancing in the clubs late at night in an inebriated state. However, nobody was detained in this regard, the source informed.
Punitive action will be taken against the bar owners for breaching the norms, the police official stated.
