Bhubaneswar: The state government has relaxed norms for private companies to buy private land through negotiation with the landowner.
Revenue and Disaster Management department has issued a notification in this regard, Monday. Now, the private companies can purchase land up to 500 acres through negotiation with the owner of the land in rural areas.
Earlier, it was stipulated up to 200 acres of dry land or equivalent areas of irrigated land or wetlands in rural areas.
Similarly, private companies can buy 100 acres in urban areas, which was earlier limited to 50 acres only. Provisions of rehabilitation and resettlement under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 will not be applicable for such a deal.
