Bhubaneswar, June 2: The Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR), a central government undertaking, is likely to make its proposed multi-modal logistic park at Jharsuguda operational in the near future.
Speaking to reporters here, Chairman and Managing Director of CONCOR, Anil K Gupta said, “We have decided to make the proposed multi modal logistic park at Jharsuguda operational by June. In the first phase, it will operate as Domestic Container Terminal (DCT) and after three to four months, it will be declared as Inland Container Depot (ICD).” The project would be coming up in 28 acres with an investment of Rs 110 crore, he added. The proposed terminal with good rail connection will provide dedicated service to industry along with customs clearance, cargo consolidation facilities. It will promote export of existing industries as well as new ones, which are likely to come up in and around Jharsuguda in coming years.
The logistic parks will include facilities like warehouses, distribution centres, storage areas, offices, truck services, parking lots, truck terminals, container rail terminal, container handling facilities, cold storages, distribution centres, air cargo points, lorries, maintenance points, service stations, hospitals and restaurants, sources said. CONCOR, which is having 26 per cent stake in Angul-Sukinda Railway Ltd (ASRL)- a special purpose vehicle (SPV) formed to implement the key rail link project- has also proposed to set up logistics parks at Duburi and Parjang.
“We are also going to set up logistics parks at Duburi and Parjang, which are the two ending points of Angul-Sukinda Railway Ltd. These terminal facilities will come up in 55 acres of land each. Total cost of each project will be around Rs 110 crore,” Gupta said. Besides, the corporation is also setting up another terminal at Balsore, he said, adding, these parks are likely to give a boost to state’s industrial competitiveness.
