Cong issues list of candidates

New Delhi: The Congress Monday released the first list of its candidates for six Lok Sabha and 36 Assembly constituencies in Odisha. The party has announced the names of candidates for the constituencies where elections will be held in the first and second phases. However, the party has not announced the names of all the seats that will go for polls in the first two phases.

Earlier, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik said the screening committee has shortlisted the names of candidates for 21 Lok Sabha and 147 Assembly constituencies and submitted the list to the party’s central election committee (CEC). He said the CEC has finalised the names of candidates for nine Lok Sabha and 63 Assembly seats. The CEC will hold a meeting March 22 to finalise the names for 12 Lok Sabha and 84 Assembly seats in the state.
