Bhapur: Police Friday arrested an ASI for allegedly raping his minor niece under Fategarh police limits area in Nayagarh district.
Brajabandhu Mallick (50), posted as ASI at Banigochha police station, had allegedly been raping his elder brother’s daughter for the past few months.
The matter came to light after the girl herself approached Nayagarh child welfare committee and lodged a complaint in this connection. The committee then approached the Nayagarh SP for help. She is six-month pregnannt
On the orders of the SP, Fategarh IIC Asutosh Mishra registered a case and arrested Mallick. Both the cop and the victim were sent for medical examination and a probe was on.
Mallick has, however, refuted the allegations and claimed to have been accused falsely due to a feud with the girl’s family. He claimed that the girl was impregnated by her lover.
