Tihidi: The police helped solemnize the wedding of a couple at Maa Tarini temple under Tihidi police limits in Bhadrak, Tuesday.
The lovers who married were identified as Bijay Mohanty, son of Narayan Mohanty of Amrutpur and Janaki Majhi, 22, daughter of Sankhali Majhi of Anantapur.
The two had left their home eight months ago and returned home 15 days ago.
The family of Bijay disapproved of their marriage due to caste anomalies. Later, Bijay left Janaki at her home and fled the district.
Following the incident, the girl’s father lodged a complaint with the police, Sunday. Meanwhile, some locals traced Bijay at Baliapal in Balasore and informed the police.
Police brought Bijay from Baliapal to Tihidi and helped the matter settle mutually.
Both the sides agreed to solemnize the marriage which was organised in a temple.
