The victim’s family is also making efforts to trace the accused.
Police sources said Tuni could have been arrested earliler, had the victim’s relatives lodged a complaint with the police soon after her disappearance December 19.
“The family filed a complaint December 28, when most of the evidences were eliminated,” said the sources.
According to the complaint lodged with Mahila police station here, the girl was a resident of Nirankari Nagar from where she had been taken to a house in Khandagiri on the pretext of shopping by Tuni, her neighbor. She first went to a shop in the locality from where she called the police control room. A PCR van arrived and picked up the girl and took her to her home in Salia Sahi.
