Newspaper vendor, wife found dead in Capital city

Couple

Bhubaneswar: A newspaper vendor and his wife were found dead at Keuta Sahi under Lingaraj police limits here, Friday.

Police recovered the bodies from their rented accommodation and sent them for post-mortem.

The body of Rakesh Kumar Rout, 32, who was working as a newspaper vendor, was found hanging with a sari from the ceiling fan while his wife Mama’s body was found under the bed. Rout tied the knot with Minaxi Rout alias Mama just three months ago.

Rout, a resident of Choudwar, was staying at his uncle’s house for the last 20 years.

The family members of Rout’s uncle guessed something was wrong Friday morning as Rakesh and his wife used to be early risers. Suspecting something amiss, they informed the police, who came and broke the door open to find the bodies of Rakesh and Mama. They have registered a case of unnatural death. The police also sent the bodies to Capital Hospital for post-mortem. Locals suspect Rakesh murdered his wife before committing suicide over some family issues. However, the police are yet to throw light on the matter. Police have started investigations into the matter after filing an Unnatural Death case (24/20) in this regard.

Inspector in-charge of Lingaraj police said, “The couple was not in good terms since the very next day of their marriage. The autopsy report of Mama can only unearth the fact whether Rout ended his life after killing her.”
