Courageous 7-yr-old girl saves 4-yr-old from drowning

Kendrapara: In an impressive display of bravery and courage, a seven-year-old girl saved a four-year-old boy from drowning in a pond in Rajnagar block of Kendrapara district Friday.

Swarna Sujata, the brave girl who performed the heroic act saw the four-year-old Sai Abhiram slip and fall into the water while he was playing near the pond. Without wasting any time, Sujata ran to the pond and entered the neck-deep water by catching hold of the grass along the banks with one hand for support. With the other hand, she pulled Sai out of water to safety.

After dragging the boy to the bank, Sujata screamed for help and soon the locals gathered around and took Sai to the Rajnagar Community Health Center (CHC).

After preliminary treatment, the boy regained his consciousness.

Meanwhile, the girl’s bravery was highly appreciated by the locals. Her presence of mind had given a new lease of life to the boy.

Praising for her exceptional display of bravery, the villagers have requested the administration to recommend Swarna Sujata’s name for the Bravery Award.
