Balasore, June 2: Families of Barsha Soni and her husband Rajashree appeared in the district family court Tuesday for counselling to induce a rapprochement before the latter takes final decision in the high-profile divorce case.
Notably, Barsha Soni is the daughter-in-law of former steel and mines minister Raghunath Mohanty.
A few months after her marriage with Rajashree Mohanty, Barsha lodged an FIR against her in-laws accusing them of dowry torture March 14, 2013. Later, Ragunath had to resign from the post of minister.
The court had earlier served notices to both the families. Rajashree turned up in the court, followed by Barsha Tuesday. Both were counseled by counsellers Subhalaxmi Mohanty and Shiba Das.
Emerging out of the counseling session, Rajashree told reporters that Barsha had made false allegations against his family and a plot was hatched to malign his family.
As for the rapprochement, Rajashree declined to comment saying the legal process was on. He also said he no longer wants to stay with Barsha.
On the other hand, Barsha said she had never wanted or pressed for divorce from Rajashree; rather she was earlier prepared to divorce her. As the counseling began, Rajashree bluntly refuse reconciliation.
The court will set another date for counseling.Notably, Rajashree had sought divorce from Barsha in the court.
