Covid-19 surge: BMC declares 21 more Containment Zones

Bhubaneswar: The civic body Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Sunday evening declared 21 more places as Containment Zones following detection of large number of new cases in the city.

A source informed that as many as five places located in South-East Zone of Bhubaneswar were declared micro-containment zones, four places in North Zone of the Capital City containment zones and twelve places in South-West Zone micro-containment zones.

The five micro-containment zones in South-East Zone include Plot No-LB/27, Jharpada, Plot No-246/38, Lane-6, Aerodrome Area, Qtr No-2RA-9/2, Unit-9, Plot No-584, Madhusudan Nagar and Plot No-13/21 Sundarpada.

The four containment zones in North Zone include Plot No-29, Sector-3, Niladri Vihar, Ward No-14, House No-641, Sector-3, Niladri Vihar, Ward No-14, B-16, Govt Polytechnic, Ward No-16 and Residential Colony, Jaydev Vihar, Ward No-16.

The twelve micro-containment zones in South-West Zone include Plot No-69/2766, Gayatri Vihar, Baramunda Housing Board Colony, Ward No-24, Flat No-203, Bhabani Shankar Apartment, Gangangar, Unit-6, Ward No-52, Plot No-63, Green Park, Jagamara, Khandagiri, Ward No-63, Plot No-613/2200, Barabari, Near Govt High School, Ward No-63, Plot No-HIG/185, K-6, Kalinga Vihar, Near Indian Bank, Ward No-23, House No-G/50, RBI Colony, Nayapalli, Ward No-25, Plot No-B-2/117, Lingaraj Vihar, Pokhariput, Ward No-62, Plot No-574/2565, Bhakta Madhu Nagar, Lane-4, Gandamunda, Ward No-62, Plot No-1965, Tarini Basti, Pokhariput, Ward No-62, Plot No-473/776/1109, Kokila Garden, Phase II, Pokhariput, Ward No-62, Plot No-175, Lane-17, Satyasai Enclave, Kolathia, Ward No-49 and Plot No-HIG/58, Housing Board Colony, Kolathia, Ward No-49.

Notably, separate squads of BMC are carrying out raids at parks, religious places, temples and several other crowded locations.

In the last 24 hours, Odisha has registered 7,291 new Covid-19 cases, of which Khurda district alone (including Bhubaneswar) recorded the highest number of infections with 1,705, taking tally in the state to 12,11,951. Active caseload in the state now stands at 81,765.

Khurda has also recorded 2,262 fresh Covid-19 cases Sunday, 2,528 new cases Saturday, 2,946 infections Friday, 3,036 Thursday and 4,347 Wednesday.
