Cuttack: Cuttack-A emerged champions of the U-16 Inter-District cricket tournament after registering a convincing 73-run victory over Bhubaneswar A in the final at the Sunshine ground here Friday.
Opting to bat first Cuttack-A scored 177 for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 45 overs with Saideep Mohapatra (70, 107b, 7×4, 1×6) emerging the highest scorer. Sai Subham (2/24) bowled well for the visitors.
In reply Bhubaneswar-A were never in the chase losing wickets at regular intervals before being bundled out for 104 in 44.3 overs. Ashutosh Sahoo (50, 97b, 5×4) was the only batsman to offer some resistance for Bhubaneswar with the bat. Jagdish Gharee (2/15), B Bajarangi (2/12) and Pratyush Das (2/19) picked up two wickets each.
OCA working committee chairman Dhiren Pallai was present as chief guest in the prize distribution ceremony.
