Cuttack: A team of Income Tax department officials and police Wednesday conducted raids on the residence of a chartered accountant of gangster brothers – Sushil Dhalasamanta and Sushant – at Mahtab Road here and seized several important documents.
The raids were conducted by the team constituted by the commissionerate police after interrogation the mafia brothers. Further raids are on.Sources said during interrogation the CP learnt that the criminal siblings were involved in mining business and were earning a hefty income from it. Later they embarked on sandbank business and it was a major source of income for them. They owned two private companies.
Sources said Sushil and Sushant had opened a mini liquor bar at their residence without a valid permit. During raids at their rented accommodation at Pokhariput and residence at CDA Sector-6, police stubled upon several bottles of costly liquor. They used to spend time at the bar with their associates. A case was registered in this regard at Markatnagar police station. Further investigation is on into the matter, said DCP Sanjeev Arora.
Sources said the siblings were getting political patronage. Though police were aware of their criminal antecedents, no action was taken against them. The brothers, both unmarried, were leading luxurious lives. The cell phones and laptops seized from them suggested they had relations with many girls, said a police official on condition of anonymity.Meanwhile, a team of police officials are guarding the rented accommodation of the criminal brothers at the Beach Road in Vizag. The house was locked from outside. A police team left for Vizag along with one of the relatives of the duo in the presence of whom the lock of the house would be broken, sources said. PNN
