Ct-05-25-KVK re anusthita 6th Cuttack Mahotsav-International Dance&Music Festival 4th evening-Bharatnatyam-Basanti Vinayak Joshi (2)
The international touch to the performances was given by Andrea Albergaria from Brazil, who performed Odissi. Albergaria’s performance was followed by Kathak performance by Lata Tippe from Mumbai.

Cuttack, Jan 5: The sixth Cuttack Mahotsav got an international touch with a brilliant performance by an artiste from abroad complementing those by artistes from across the country.
The evening started with a Bharatanatyam performance by Sangeeta Chatterjee from Indirapuram, which was followed by Anjali Prasad from Kolkata performing Odissi.
Koustav Bhattacharya from Sreerampur showcased his skills on the tabla, an instrument that is as pleasant to listen to as it is difficult to master. The brilliant percussion beats captivated the audience that had gathered in large numbers at the Kala Vikash Kendra auditorium here.
“I love the table. It is one of those instruments that has not yet been replicated on the synthesiser,” said Shyamahari Guru, a music teacher from Bhubaneswar, pointing out that even instruments like the guitar can be played on a synthesiser. “It is simply impossible to replicate the table electronically and this shows the brilliance of the instrument that signifies Indian classical music,” said Guru.
Bhattacharya’s performance was followed by a violin recital by K Rohan Naidu from Raipur. “Music cannot be imagined without the violin. It is an integral part of every concert be it classical or western,” said Naidu after his performance.
The international touch to the performances was given by Andrea Albergaria from Brazil, who performed Odissi. N Sitansu, a resident of Link Road, said that he was pleasantly surprised by the deft moves of a foreign artiste. “This shows how popular Indian dance forms are abroad. Even as youngsters in India have been ignoring the classical dance forms, someone from abroad showcasing our heritage is a matter of pride,” he said.
Albergaria’s performance was followed by Kathak performance by Lata Tippe from Mumbai. Silpa Sonali Mohanty from Bhubaneswar performed Odissi, while Chitra S Dalvi from Mumbai performed Bharatanatyam.
Day five of the Mahotsav will see some more performances by artistes from France and the United Kingdom.
